Solar photovoltaic (PV) mounting racks are a crucial component of PV power stations, as they support the core power-generating elements of the stations. An unreasonable design that leads to accidents under severe weather conditions will have a fatal impact on the power station. Therefore, during the design process, various factors must be comprehensively considered to ultimately determine the selection of mounting racks and the layout of PV arrays.
 
For common ground-mounted PV mounting rack systems, ground PV systems generally adopt the form of concrete strip (block) foundations. Regarding the challenges faced by solar PV mounting rack design schemes, the most important feature of the component assembly parts in any type of solar PV mounting rack design scheme is weather resistance. The structure must be sturdy and reliable, capable of withstanding atmospheric corrosion, wind loads, and other external effects.
 
Safe and reliable installation, achieving maximum operational benefits with minimal installation costs, almost no maintenance requirements, and reliable repairability—these are all important factors to be considered when selecting a design scheme. In the proposed solution, high-wear-resistant materials are used to resist wind loads, snow loads, and other corrosive effects. Technologies and processes such as aluminum alloy anodization, extra-thick hot-dip galvanizing, stainless steel application, and UV aging resistance are comprehensively utilized to ensure the service life of solar PV mounting racks and solar trackers.
 
Currently, two common types of foundations for PV mounting racks are used at home and abroad: cement foundations and spiral pile foundations. Cement-foundation PV mounting racks usually adopt independent foundations or strip foundations, with manufacturing methods including prefabrication and cast-in-place. Their prominent advantages are low steel consumption, minimal restrictions by geological conditions, excellent anti-corrosion performance of the PV mounting racks, and low potential safety hazards.
